3-star accommodation in Amsterdam

Hello, dear friends!

Here I am back with a new Amsterdam hotel review. The following review has been sent by my on-line pen friend, Jennifer, and I am going to cite Jennifer’s letter with her permission. Here it is:

“Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre has a 3-star rating. We stayed in this budget Amsterdam hotel for 4 nights and found it to be a great hotel for the price we paid (it was cheaper compared to other 3-star hotels in this area of the city). We decided to book rooms in Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre due to its convenient location in the heart of Amsterdam. Its central location made this hotel a good place to start an exploration of the capital. Some of the sites which we were going to see during our trip could be easily reached from Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre. The Royal Palace on Dam square, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk museum and Kalverstraat were within walking distance. There was a tram station right in front of the hotel and we could get anywhere within the city.

As I was traveling with my cousin, we booked deluxe room with two single beds. Our room was small but functional and there was everything necessary for a comfortable stay – telephone, television, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, safe. The hotel staff cleaned apartments up to 12.30 pm, which was very handy for us who liked to sleep in the morning. The hotel was very noisy, though, because there were renovations being carried out.

We liked Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre, and, if you are looking for a cheap hotel in Amsterdam in a great location, this hotel is for you.”

Dear, Jennifer! Thank you very much for the information, I hope you will send us more Amsterdam hotel descriptions and I promise to publish them here.

Hello everybody!

Let me go on with my overview of Hotel City Garden in Amsterdam, a cheap Amsterdam hotel rated 3-stars with very convenient location.

Two of Marbee’s friends booked the superior double room in City Garden Hotel Amsterdam for their short visit to Amsterdam. This room was described as luxury room for 2 persons and it really was: their apartment was really clean and quite spacious. Comfortable bed with new bed linen invited to have a rest in it. The ensuite shower room was also very nice and there was always hot water. Every day we had fresh sheets and towels. Tea and coffee making facilities were available in their hotel room and they were replenished every day. Other in-room amenities included work desk, radio, alarm clock (or you could use wake up service provided by the hotel staff), hairdryer, telephone, TV set, safety deposit box and heating. The only problem Marbee’s friends faced in their hotel room were the windows, which didn’t close tightly.

On the plus side of Hotel City Garden Amsterdam is free internet in the reception area and the efficient reception staff. Marbee’s friends had a complete support of hotel staff, especially the woman at the reception desk, who was very helpful and always ready to answer their questions; there also was a standard tourist information rack filled with details of Amsterdam’s places of interest and things to do when in Amsterdam.

Breakfast was included in the room rate. It was simple but very edible and the waitress was helpful.
I think that Hotel City Garden in Amsterdam is a good budget Amsterdam hotel. You should definitely consider staying in this cheap hotel if you are in Amsterdam.

See you!

Hello, dear friends!

Unfortunately, my sister and her husband have to put off their visit to Amsterdam due to some family reasons. I am terribly upset by their decision, as I was looking forward to seeing them. Anyway, I think I should continue describing Amsterdam hotels in other to find the best accommodation option for them when they eventually come here. I just hope that will happen soon.

The next cheap Amsterdam hotel described by Marbee is Hotel City Garden in Amsterdam, which is not very big in comparison to other Amsterdam hotels, but very cosy and nice. Her friend stayed in this hotel during his first visit to Amsterdam, Hotel City Garden Amsterdam it wasn’t within walking distance from the Main train station but was easily accessible by the trams and buses. This affordable Amsterdam hotel is situated right next to Vondel Park, and the museum district is at its doorsteps. Great location, I suppose. It is not right in the centre but still very close to everything. If you regard a hotel as only a place to have a good night’s sleep, take a shower and enjoy your breakfast in the morning because you’re going to be exploring Amsterdam’s sights all day or night long, and if you do not need (or don’t want to pay for) all the extra facilities that expensive luxury hotels offer (sauna, fitness center, spa, childcare, etc., which are only useful if you plan to hang out at the hotel), then Hotel City Garden Amsterdam is a great place to settle when in Amsterdam. Booking ahead is still a wise decision. On-line reservation is available.

To be continued…

Hi!

I am back to continue about Hotel de Paris Amsterdam, 3-star city center cheap Amsterdam hotel.

Jack spent only a night there and had a single room with a private bathroom with a shower, a toilet, a telephone and a television. Everything was in order. The room was small (I guess you are not going to spend your day inside the hotel or your room when there is so much fun that Amsterdam offers and so many shopping opportunities for us :))), but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean with very hot and powerful shower; fresh towels were delivered every day. The housekeeping service was efficient and the staff were polite and ready to help. The Hotel de Paris Amsterdam was quiet day and night. Jack liked the breakfast which was included in the room price – nothing special but delicious: the usual selection of cheese, meats, boiled egg, bread, butter, jam, coffee and tea (you could have as much as you wanted).

The stairs could seem a little steep especially if you were an older person or a guest carrying luggage, but there is a lift. Guests had to leave their room keys at the front desk when they left and take it when they came back in, which wasn’t a problem (you shouldn’t worry about loosing your key), as there was always someone at the desk.

All in all, Hotel de Paris Amsterdam is a good budget Amsterdam accommodation worth the money you pay. But remember to book Amsterdam hotels in advance if you don’t want to have troubles checking in. That’s all about this particular Amsterdam hotel, I guess.

See you, bye!

Hello, everybody!

Caroline, I am very glad that you liked my previous reviews of budget Amsterdam hotels, I hope they will be helpful for you and Barry. Jack sends his best regards to you. It’s a pity we couldn’t see you in Paris as we were planning: Jack had some urgent work and had to travel to Eindhoven for a couple of days. I was really upset and a little bit angry with him :(( Just hope to see you some other day, the sooner the better.

OK. I go on with the reviews of Amsterdam hotels. The next is a 3-star Hotel de Paris Amsterdam (Jack has stayed there last year). It’s just a perfect Amsterdam lodging to explore the city on foot: approximately 5 minutes to the square “Leidseplein” (it is considered to be one of Amsterdam’s liveliest places for nightlife - theatres, cafes, restaurants, cinemas, the casino, and so on. We will definitely find what to do there! I was there once with Chantal during their stay here - fire-eaters amazed me most of all. I would never try doing that myself though!), 10 minutes to “Rembrandtplein”, 20 minutes to the Dam, 25 minutes to Red Light District (you know what it is, don’t you? :))), 30 minutes to the Central Station. So you see Hotel de Paris Amsterdam is within walking distance to almost everything and all at a snails-pace stroll! And I think that the best way to explore the city like Amsterdam is on foot, I guess you would agree with me.

I will continue later, we are going for a walk with Alex now. Bye!

Hello!

And again about the Hotel Falcon Plaza Centre, a 3-star accommodation in Amsterdam.

Martin and Sandra had reserved double room there for five nights (the hotel also offered single, triple and quad rooms), the staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. The good thing about the hotel was that the entire hotel was non-smoking. The elevator was available at the hotel, a good facility especially after a day on foot exploring the sights. Their room in Amsterdam Hotel Falcon was clean, though not very big, the heating was OK, so it was warm and Martin and Sandra had almost everything they needed: toilet, bathroom, colour TV, telephone, radio, alarm clock, a wardrobe (with safe), a dressing table. They also had coffee and tea making facilities. But the best feature of their room was the hot power shower (er, just what you need after spending a day in the red light district, er, sorry! :)))). The bed was very comfortable; the linen was lovely and clean, they had fresh towels every day, rooms were cleaned daily, room service didn’t disturb much and the chambermaid was always smiling. In spite of being next to a main road, the room wasn’t noisy.
The continental breakfast was served from 7.30 to 10.00 in the clean and cosy dining room. It was simple but filling (Sandra liked their chocolate milk and cheese and ham toasts).

All in all, Martin and Sandra enjoyed their stay at Hotel Falcon in Amsterdam. They consider Hotel Falcon Plaza Centre a good budget Amsterdam hotel. So, Caroline, I think this 3-star hotel worth considering when choosing a place to stay in Amsterdam.

That’s all about this hotel. Bye-bye! Hope to see you soon!

Hello!

I go on with the description of Hotel Falcon Amsterdam.

I have already mentioned in the previous post the perfect location of the hotel in the center of Amsterdam, very close to the most popular places of interest and public transport, which makes this 3-star Amsterdam hotel a good place to settle if your goal is to explore the capital. You can reach most of the sights on foot, and if you don’t mind walking a little and want to save money and keep within your budget don’t take a taxi because local taxis tend to be quite expensive. Sandra admitted that when they tried to take a taxi from central station to the Hotel Falcon Plaza Centre, the taxi driver charged them EUR 25 for the ride; soon they discovered that the route was very short and it was quite simple to walk.

There is a special private parking lot adjacent to the Hotel Falcon Plaza Centre, so guests on wheels can park their cars for €25 a day (last year price, sorry, I don’t know how much they charge these days).

The hotel itself is housed in a modern building; stone-floored lobby with lots of plants is a pleasant place to relax with some friends. Amsterdam Hotel Falcon is far enough from the noisy nightlife, so it doesn’t disturb you in the hotel room, but it is still close enough to enjoy everything Amsterdam has to offer.

I will continue later about the hotel. I have to go. Bye for now!
