Hotel Guide

In the end of the previous post I put a kind of ‘to be continued’, so it is to be continued here.

- If the hotel advertises its rooms with the sea view, then clarify beforehand the cost of this pleasure, as it may be more expensive. In the case of the same cost of both categories of the apartments, you can send your wish in writing to stay in the room with windows looking on to the sea through the travel operator. They are always of great demand, such rooms. Remember that.
- If the hotel can not give you a room you want when asked beforehand, try to ask about the desired category upon your arrival.
- The situation with the sea view concerns every requirements and details such as two next-door rooms, availability of the balcony, smoking/non-smoking room and etc.

Hotel’s location.
- You should pay special attention to this matter during the discussion of the hotel ort looking through the information about. Internet make wonders, so, it is quite easy to know if the proposed hotel is situated in a mile from the nearest beach, or in the noisy and/or dubious district. And remember, the description of the hotel’s location sometimes does not match the reality in full.
- In addition, get familiar with the map and structure of the hotel’s blocks and lines thoroughly. Maps are posted in Internet for almost every self-respecting hotel and resort.
- One more point: if you are not going to spend time on the beach but want to communicate with and mix with people then determine the nearest hotel to the place of parties and etc.

However the choice is yours and… be careful!

Are you going to travel in Amsterdam? Then here are some tips how to choose a hotel in Amsterdam

Part 1
If you have planned your travel in advance, then you must have made all preparations. Have you thought of a hotel, the best place to stay at?
Remember the main idea: the hotel is a place that must be as comfortable as possible. It is a must because it can happen that you will have to spend much time there. So, numerous negative comments should make think it over well and probably think better of it.

There are some important features in the process of choosing a hotel.
Confidence:
- Do not take the promises of travel agencies and advertisements words on trust: they can, and often do, conceal certain details so that everything will look splendid;
- Do not believe the comments of “experienced” tourists at hotel’s web-site, as they can be simply written by hotel’s marketing people.
Hotel’s web-site:
- If the hotel has no web-site, then you should be cautious: either these guys economize on everything and don’t bother to make one, or their star-category is being changed or something alike is going on.
- Hotel web-site is one thing, and hotel’s being listed in one of the wide-known online reservation systems is another thing. Check the latter as well, as online reservation saves a lot of time if you travel extensively.
- Have a thorough look at the hotel’s photos. They will illustrate a character of the exterior and interior of the building. Of course, you will never see minute details, but you will definitely have a general idea.
- What the hotel’s web-site usually does not lie about are hotel’s contacts: address, phones and e mail. E-mail is especially useful to send a message to request details you are interested in. Anyway, by the time their staff replies to your massage you can judge what their idea of customer care is. If the reply isn’t prompt, their room-service is most probably not brisk.
- At last, it is a usual practice to list room categories at the hotel web-site. If you cannot find the category you want, then do not try to find out its availability.

Well, these tips are not all for this topic, and I will continue my advices in the next post

Hello everybody! The Park Plaza Victoria hotel Amsterdam is really nice located across the Central Station of Amsterdam, just a few minutes away from all the public transport. My room was located on the 3rd floor with a nice view over the canals and the beautiful historical buildings of the city. The room was a bit small but efficiently furnished, clean and tidy. The staff was friendly and helpfull, I had a big list of questions for them :) The Amsterdam Victoria hotel is equiped with a fittnesroom, spa and a restaurant with a bar.

Today I explored the city by bike, rented at ‘macbike’ for 1 day for just €8,50. Using a bike to transport yourself through the city is a common thing here in the Netherlands. Unbelieveble, I’ve never seen so much bikers before. Packed a map, drinks and some sandwiches that I picked up at the supermarket named ‘Albert Heijn’ and started my adventure.

I’ll report my adverture on the bike later on to you guys!

Today’s post is devoted to NH Doelen, a 4-star cheap Amsterdam hotel. This hotel review has been sent by Pablo from Switzerland.
“I visited Amsterdam this summer and spent a week at NH Doelen. This cheap Amsterdam hotel is located close to the Central Station and Amsterdam’s most popular places of interest are within easy reach from the hotel. In case you are not keen of walking, there are plenty of tram connections nearby, so there won’t be any problems with reaching the city sights.

I guess they had spent a lot of money on their reception area and the lobby because they looked very lovely and elegant.
The decor of my room on the third floor was a little tired looking and could use an update; the furniture was a bit old-fashioned, but as long as I got a good price, the location of the hotel was central, I had a nice view of the Amstel out of my window and all I was doing at the hotel was sleeping so why I should complain! There was everything I needed: television, minibar, telephone, hairdryer, alarm clock and coffee and tea making facilities. I heard that some guests experienced noise, but I could hear just usual outside noise from the canal, which could hardly be controlled by the hotel staff.

I didn’t try the food served for breakfast , so I can’t comment on that.

Overall, NH Doelen was good inexpensive Amsterdam hotel, I didn’t have any problem and I liked the price, so I will probably stay there again.”

Here is a hotel review from Jeremy, which I received a couple of days ago.“Actually, I originally planned to stay in another cheap Amsterdam hotel arriving on a Saturday morning, but I was terribly upset about the hotel where I intended to stay even though I had read good reviews for it on different websites. Anyway, Amsterdam Hotel RobertRamon was one of the few cheap Amsterdam hotels to have rooms available at an affordable rate in a good area. Hotel RobertRamon was located in a lovely area at the south of the city centre right in the heart of the Museum district. The Leidseplein and Vondel Park were within walking distance from the hotel.

My room on the fourth floor was clean and comfortable for the price I paid, and it was quiet at night. It had everything I needed for a short stay in Amsterdam: a private bathroom, a deposit box, a telephone, a desk, a flat TV and free wireless internet. In the entire hotel there was a wireless Internet connection available to owners of a laptop.

Unfortunately, breakfast was not included and costs EUR 15.00 per person. Breakfast was OK and fresh, although it was the same everyday: cereal, fruit salad, bread, cheese, hams, boiled eggs, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Of course, if you prefer something different, i.e. pancakes, waffles, etc., it’s better to go out for breakfast.

Probably, I will stay at Hotel RobertRamon next time when I am in Amsterdam. I liked the friendly hotel staff and unobtrusive service.”
